Monique’s husband, #DerrickRodgers made a video of the delivery staff handling the babies (Morgan and Madison). One of the staff mishandled the baby and dropped the 3-pound newborn on her head on the table. “It made me so mad. Like I had to stop recording,” Derrick said. He says he confronted the doctor that was holding the baby. “I told him, ’You dropped my baby’. He had like a nonchalant look on his face. Then I showed him the video, and he had nothing to say after that.” (abc15/Arizona)

Baby Morgan, at 3 lbs. 4oz, spent 12 hours in the NICU. At 5 days old, an ultrasound was done and it revealed a Grade 1 Hemorrhage on the left side of the brain. Monique says she was never notified of the ultrasound results (until 6 weeks later). She says she is unsure of the hemorrhage is due to the drop or from being born underweight. —–
Monique says she went home unaware of the ultrasound. She noticed that Baby Morgan as shaking. “She does this like tensing up and her body kind of shakes.” She took the baby to a different doctor and became aware of the tests. The parents confronted the delivery doctor and did not get an explanation or apology.

“I showed him the video, and he was speechless. He didn’t say anything,” Derrick says. Baby Morgan is scheduled with a neurologist in August. The hospital is conducting a review. “I kind of promised myself that I would never watch that video again,” Monique said. I feel like she was treated like a sack of potatoes. You know, an apology when it happened could’ve gone a long way.”
